The countdown has begun.....

In less than 2 months I will be traveling to Germany with other NC educators to learn about the German educational system, renewable resources, and cultural history.  I am beginning to really get excited about the trip.

Each day brings about a new idea or experience that I want to share with my fellow travelers and teachers.  As part of the program we are tasked with bringing back the information we learn while on our trip and sharing it with our students, teachers, and communities.  This is the part I am really looking forward to.  I began this journey with the end in mind.  I plan on creating a virtual environment for people to use to learn more about not only Germany, but other world cultures.

With the use of technology, I can see my vision reaching people all over NC and beyond.  While my vision is still in it's beginning stages and constantly changing and adapting, I look forward to the challenge of bringing my experience to as many people as possible.

Hallo, Deutschland ich komme!

Hello, Germany here I come!!!

Hi, my name is Tara Mauney and I am an Instructional Technology Facilitator for Rutherford County Schools in rural western North Carolina. I was recently selected to travel to Germany as a part of the Center for International Understanding's Global Teachers to Germany Program.

While in Germany I will be exploring the following areas:

  • Germany’s history, culture and education system
  • technological innovation, particularly in renewable energy and sustainable development practices
Through the use of technology, I will be able to collaborate with other program participants on ways to implement global perspectives and technology into the classroom.

This trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am proud to represent Rutherford County Schools, North Carolina, the James G. McClure Fund, and the Center for International Understanding.

While I am in Germany I hope to blog frequently to keep my family, friends, and students involved in my adventure.

Wiedersehen für jetzt...Goodbye for now,

Tara
